BIRS Arrests Impostor

The Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), today apprehended an impostor, one Barnabas Saawuan.

He was arrested today for fleecing unsuspecting tax payers by receiving unauthorized sums of money claiming to be data charges in order to obtain Tax Identification Number (TIN).

The culprit who was arrested after an alarm raised by a tax payer who refused to pay the illegal sum.

The suspect has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.

Meanwhile the Benue Internal Revenue Service has reiterated that acquiring a Tax Identification Number is free of charge and advised tax payers to be vigilant and report any case of extortion.
