In furtherance of its resolve to end the scourge of illegal tax activity, the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) has begun partnering with traditional rulers.
The Chiarman BIRS, Mr. Andrew Ayabam yesterday paid a courtesy call on the kindred head of Mbaikyor in Konshisha Local Government Area, Chief Lazarus Unaha Koko.
During the visit the Chiarman who exposed the ills of illegal tax activity, called on the traditional ruler to advise his subjects against engaging in any form of illegal tax activity.
While decrying the fast increase in the number of illegal tax points in the area, Mr. Ayabam informed the traditional ruler that he was determined to leave no stone unturned until all culprits are brought to book.
In his response the traditional ruler, Chief Unaha Koko promised his support for the tax reforms while agreeing to the detriments of illegal tax activity.
